  • Jazz Resource List The FBA Jazz Committee has compiled a swing literature resource list for directors. It is posted on the Music Lists page.
  • FSMA Sexual Misconduct Policy The Florida School Music Association now has a Sexual Misconduct Policy that all directors participating in an MPA should be aware of. Directors, please note: it is your responsibility to make sure all students are supervised by an adult at all MPA events at all times, including during their Solo & Ensemble performances.
  • Mentoring The Florida Bandmasters Association has many mentorship opportunities available to all members. See the Mentoring Page for details.
  • Celebrating Success Success in the music classroom can look many different ways and we should acknowledge and celebrate ALL forms of success. In an effort to support each other and band programs all over the state, this page will highlight good teaching and positive experiences for students in a variety of settings.
  • Adjudication Seminars Adjudication seminars will be held on January 14, 2026, in conjunction with the FMEA Conference. Registration will open in October.
  • Summer Conference We are now accepting session proposals for the 2026 FBA Summer Conference.
  • Newsletter The July 2025 <em>Florida Bandmaster</em> newsletter is now available, including minutes from the July Board of Directors and General Membership meetings.
  • Music List Submissions Solo & Ensemble Music Request Deadline: <strong>September 30</strong>. Concert Music Request Deadline: <strong>October 15,</strong>.
  • Young Composers Competition In addition to the Student Composition Contest, FBA also sponsors a Young Composers Competition open to any composer age 30 or younger. Entry Deadline: December 15.
  • All-State Requirements The All-State audition requirements for the 2025-2026 school year are now posted. Check back often for updates and corrections.
  • Hall of Fame <strong>November 15-16, 2025</strong> <br /> Held on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, this event will include a banquet and two concerts to honor the Roll of Distinction inductees Dr. Patrick Dunnigan and Fred Schiff, and Hall-of-Fame inductees Richard Davenport and Melvin Maxwell. Please RSVP by October 31 if you will be attending the Banquet and/or Concerts.
  • Five-Year Superior Awards If you feel you qualify for any of our Five-Year Superior Awards, please contact the FBA Executive Director. Click below for details.
  • Life Membership FBA members with 25 years of consecutive/cumulative years of dues paid may qualify for Life Membership. If you feel you qualify, please fill out the form below and email it to the Executive Director.
  • Heat Illness Prevention As performers strive for excellence with unwavering dedication, the threat of heat-related illnesses poses a significant concern, particularly amid the demanding schedules of practices and performances, intensified by rising temperatures in summer and autumn. Please see this information presented by the National Federation of High Schools and Dr. Neha Raukar of the Mayo Clinic.
  • Candidates Get to know the candidates for the FBA President-Elect and Middle School/Junior High Representative. This short video provides important insights into the candidates to help you stay informed and involved in the election process. Elections will be open sometime in November and close January 15.
