Success in the music classroom can look many different ways and we should acknowledge and celebrate ALL forms of success. In an effort to support each other and band programs all over the state, this page will highlight good teaching and positive experiences for students in a variety of settings.

Held on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, this event will include a banquet and two concerts to honor the Roll of Distinction inductees Josh Bula and Don Snowden and Hall of Fame inductees John Nista and Jim Matthews.

Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser will be our Keynote for the 2024 FBA Summer Conference in Orlando this July. Registration and Hotel reservations are open, and the full schedule is now available. Rooms at the DoubleTree have sold out, but an Overflow Hotel has been added.
As performers strive for excellence with unwavering dedication, the threat of heat-related illnesses poses a significant concern, particularly amid the demanding schedules of practices and performances, intensified by rising temperatures in summer and autumn. The All-State audition requirements for the 2024-2025 school year are now posted. Check back often for updates and corrections.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, no new solo pieces will be considered for addition to the Solo & Ensemble Music List. There will be consideration for Special Permission for a Solo work. Ensemble works may still be submitted for addition to our Music List. The window will be open from June 1st - October 15th, 2024.

We are now accepting entries for the 2023-2024 FBA Student Composition Contest. The application deadline has been extended to October 30
In addition to the Student Composition Contest, FBA also sponsors a Young Composers Competition open to any composer age 30 or younger. Entry Deadline: December 15.
The new concert list is now available, including new additions approved by the board at the December 2023 board meeting.
The Florida School Music Association now has a Sexual Misconduct Policy that all directors participating in an MPA should be aware of. Directors, please note: it is your responsibility to make sure all students are supervised by an adult at all MPA events at all times, including during their Solo & Ensemble performances.
