Prospective members can complete a nomination form online. If accepted into the ensemble, members will be responsible for registering to attend via the FBA Summer Conference registration (available on the FBA website soon). The cost will be $30.00 per accepted member.

Jon Eckman is the Director of Instrumental Music at Bartow Senior High School/IB/Summerlin Academy and serves as the conductor of the Bartow Adult Concert Band. Originally from Port Charlotte, Florida, Mr. Eckman is a graduate of Florida Southern College and a charter member of the Magic Drum and Bugle Corps.
He began his teaching career at Fort Meade Middle/Senior High School and, after six years, succeeded Jan Coolman as Director of Bands at Bartow High School. Under his leadership, the Bartow Senior High School bands have consistently earned superior ratings at Concert, Marching, and State Music Performance Assessments (MPAs).
The Bartow High School Band has performed nationally in Nashville, Washington, D.C., New Orleans, New York City, Atlanta, and at the Chicago International Music Festival. Mr. Eckman is a graduate of the Florida School Music Association Summer Institute and is certified in International Baccalaureate instruction for World Music.
An active adjudicator and clinician, Mr. Eckman regularly serves throughout the state of Florida for Solo & Ensemble, Concert Band, and Marching Band evaluations and appears as a guest conductor and clinician. He is a member of the American School Band Directors Association and the Association of Concert Bands, has served three terms as an FBA District Chairman, and currently serves on the Florida Bandmasters Association Legacy Committee.
Mr. Eckman was named Bartow High School Teacher of the Year in 2011 and received the City of Bartow Medal of Merit in 2018 for outstanding community service within his profession. He is also a graduate of the City of Bartow Leadership Program. Preserving the rich history of band in the Bartow community has been a constant goal throughout his career.
He is a recipient of the Oliver Hobbs Award and most recently received the John Philip Sousa Foundation Laureate Award for the 2023–2024 school year. Mr. Eckman also designed a state-of-the-art music facility that transforms the entire space into a fully functional recording studio, now known as BHS Studio-B Fine Arts Academy.
Mr. Eckman is married to his wife, Rebekah, and they have two daughters, Grace and Emileigh.
